Latest Edition of RMA’s Annual Statement Studies® Offers New Features

Philadelphia, Pa. (November 9, 2006)—The 2006-07 edition of RMA’s Annual Statement Studies is now available in the traditional book format as well as in the easy-to-use Web-based format, eStatement Studies. The latter offers users the ability to download industry data into an Excel® spreadsheet, search using a query function, and analyze data by region.

“Our 2006-07 Annual Statement Studies boasts a record number of statements and a record number of industries,” said Mark Zmiewski, RMA director of strategic learning and research. “And for the first time, RMA’s Credit and Lending Dictionary is available in the Statement Studies books. In addition, eStatement Studies is now available within eMentor, RMA’s online performance tool.”

Annual Statement Studies, the premier source for private-firm financial data, presents more than 735 industries using the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes. This year’s data was compiled from more than 200,000 statements received from financial institutions. Trend data is available for five years. Annual Statement Studies includes two publications:

  • Annual Statement Studies: Financial Ratio Benchmarks, a best-selling RMA product for more than 85 years, is the only source of financial ratio benchmarks derived directly from 210,000 statements of financial institution borrowers and prospects. These financial statements come directly to RMA from our member institutions, which get their data directly from the customer.
  • Annual Statement Studies: Industry Default Probabilities and Cash Flow Measures contains expected default frequency estimates, cash flow measures, and change in financial position information for more than 670 industries. It brings together the power of Moody’s RiskCalc™ for private companies and the Statement Studies database to provide distribution statistics on one-year and five-year expected default frequency estimates by industry. These benchmarks add substantial value to the critical analysis of cash flow for private companies.

eStatement Studies includes all of the new Annual Statement Studies data for 2006-07—both the Financial Ratio Benchmarks and Industry Default Probabilities and Cash Flow Measures.  For the first time, it also includes data from the previous four editions. Other new features include:

  • A brand-new look.
  • A client comparison worksheet, providing users with an instant and direct comparison to the industry standard when they enter customer data.
  • Ability to select industries by sector.
