RMA and ORX to Present Operational Risk Conference in Bangkok

The Three Regions Conference will take place September 25-26, 2007, at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok in Thailand. Attendees will learn how institutions throughout the Middle East, South Asia, Asia-Pacific, and the rest of the world are meeting and exceeding the expectations of their management, shareholders, and regulators.

Philadelphia, Pa. (August 15, 2007)—The Risk Management Association (RMA) and the Operational Riskdata eXchange Association (ORX) will present an operational risk conference in Bangkok on September 25-26, 2007, at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok in Thailand. Attendees will learn how institutions throughout the Middle East, South Asia, Asia-Pacific, and the rest of the world are meeting and exceeding the expectations of their management, shareholders, and regulators.

“The Three Regions Conference will offer practical insights into the latest techniques of measurement and management,” said Charles Taylor, RMA director of operational risk. Practioners from the three regions will leave this conference with more than practical and useful information, they also will gain an expanded network of operational risk management practioners from the three regions and beyond.”

Speakers include Joseph A. Sabatini, managing director and head of corporate operational risk, JPMorgan Chase, Denis Taylor, general manager, Operational Risk Group, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and Edmund Larkin, managing director and head of Group Audit, DBS Singapore.

Shane Panjvani, head of operational risk, Gulf International Bank, Bahrain, will discuss five places where operational risk management processes break down. Dr. Hj Mohd Rasid Hussin, association professor, Department of Financial Services and Risk Management, Univesiti Teknologi Mara, Malaysia, will discuss culture and risk management in Islamic and non-Islamic banks.

Panel discussions will address current concerns in operational risk management, bank regulation, and current practice and future requirements for the practice of operational risk management.
