Attendees at RMA’s Annual Risk Management Conference in New Orleans, October 20-23, 2007, will have the opportunity to participate in a “Day of Giving” where they can lend a hand in rebuilding and cleanup projects in and around the city.
Philadelphia, Pa. (August 31, 2007)— Many RMA members will volunteer in a “Day of Giving,” designed to help with the rebuilding and cleanup of New Orleans, two years after Hurricane Katrina destroyed much of the city and surrounding areas. On Saturday, October 20, RMA Annual Risk Management Conference attendees will have the opportunity to help New Orleans recover.
“After watching news reports about the continuing struggles in New Orleans, many of us have wished we could do something to help,” said RMA President and CEO Kevin M. Blakely. “RMA’s Day of Giving provides us with this opportunity.”
Primary sponsors of the “Day of Giving” are Whitney Bank and Capital One. Other sponsors include Vision Software Solutions and DiCom Software Corporation. Volunteers can choose a morning shift, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or and afternoon shift from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Since Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans on August 27, 2005, more than 1.1 million Americans have volunteered in the rebuilding effort. According to federal officials, those volunteers have provided more than 14 million hours of service in what has been reported to be the largest ever volunteer response to a U.S. national disaster.
