Philadelphia, Pa (September 4, 2002)—FDIC Chairman Donald E. Powell will deliver the keynote address during RMA's Annual Conference at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City, September 22-24, 2002. Also addressing the conference are Richard W. Evans Jr., chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Cullen/Frost Bankers Inc. and Frost Bank; Jennifer James, author and cultural anthropologist; and Mark Zandi, chief economist and cofounder of Economy.com, Inc.
The conference focuses on risk management issues facing the financial services industry and includes separate breakout sessions designed specifically for community banks as well as for large and regional banks. Highlights include sessions on the demographics driving commercial real estate, retail risk management practices, and loan pricing and liquidity funding in the current environment. Information about the proposed changes to the Basel Accord and implications of the Patriot Act for community banks also will be presented.
Critical issues facing banks today will be discussed by two separate panels: one made up of community bank executives and the other made up of large-bank executives.
